In the Gospel of Luke, taken from today’s Mass propers, Our Lord shows very distinct proof that He is also God the Father, when He told His Apostles:

“I saw Satan like lightning fall from heaven.”

Yes, even from the foundation of the world, the Son of God, Who IS also the Father (three in One), echoes throughout time “I AM”. He saw Satan fall because the Son is the Father and the Father is the Son “is now, and ever shall be, without end.” He also reminded Philip:

“Do you not believe, that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me?” John 14

Such sacred and glorious mysteries that we cannot fully fathom until heaven, but it’s words like this from Our Lord that are more than enough to give us the faith we need to keep on the path, though narrow, that leads to life.

Remember, our God is the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and thus, He is a Father Who is worthy of our trust and love. In short, He is a Father Who keeps His promises! When God the Father has shown that He loves the human race with such intensity to become Man in the form of the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, what more proof do we need that He is love and mercy itself?
