Today’s post includes rubrics and instructions on how to pray Matins on a 3rd or 4th class feast day. As you will see, there are no differences whatsoever in 3rd and 4th classes for Matins, rubrics-wise. If you were praying in a community with a 3rd class, then one candle would be lit (out of three- three on each side of the tabernacle, just as we see at Holy Mass). 2nd class: two candles lit. 1st class: three candles. Again, if you are praying alone, apart from a community, then it is most likely you will have no candles lit, nor an altar in your home. Our Lord would probably be thrilled if you did… but again, candles are not required for recitation of the office individually.

As I said in my last video for Feria day, I am taking these videos very slow and introducing certain rubrics, one step at a time as we ease our way into 1st and 2nd class feasts with Matins. I hope some of this helps; if you need anything more (questions etc.) please do not hesitate to reach out, through my page “secret”, with questions or even suggestions with how I can make these videos more user friendly and helpful for you. Ave Maria!
