ArtForTheSorrowfulHeart Marian Apostolate

The name ArtForTheSorrowfulHeart, at first glance, seemed nice because it rhymed and it incorporated the two things I desired to see united, for the sake of Our Lady: Her Heart and art! For myself, personally, I was reflecting on a deeper meaning yesterday. Whenever my own little heart was feeling “sorrowful”, Mary always knew how to brighten my day. I cannot tell you how many times I would find myself sad, discouraged or just tired and then someone would hand me a holy card or some other piece of art, and with the snap of a finger, my face would light up and it was just what I needed to be joyful again. I realized how something as simple as holy art was enough to cheer up my “sorrowful heart”. It gives me great joy, to hopefully, be able to spread that same joy to others by sharing art that is tied to Mary.

Two items that I see connected (and essential) to this Marian Apostolate on Etsy, that I include free of charge in each order, are these two matted cards:

I believe with my whole soul that we are living in the age of Mary. I buy these cards in bulk; oftentimes I know that I am paying a high price when I am giving them away, but for me it is so much more than that. If one soul is able to cling to these devotions and see fruit, I would be willing to pay whatever the price! Oh if but ONE soul would come to know Mary, Her Heart, Her Fatima message and be faithful to their First Saturday’s- I would be quite content. How many souls observe the First Friday, but pass up Mary’s First Saturday? This is truly grievous. In fact, the Carmel I was formed in, faithfully carried out the First Friday but said that the First Saturday did not coincide with the “spirit” of Carmel. When I heard these words, and let them sink in throughout my novitiate, I could not help but remember Sister Lucia of Fatima’s words:

“Father, the Most Holy Virgin is very sad because no one has paid any attention to Her message, neither the good nor the bad. The good continue on their way but without giving any importance to Her message. The bad, not seeing the punishment of God actually falling upon them, continue their life of sin without even caring about the message. But believe me, Father, God will chastise the world and this will be in a terrible manner. The punishment from Heaven is imminent.”

How could an order, that belongs totally to Mary, have this opinion? It is merely that: an opinion. the First Saturday IS the spirit of Carmel. Nothing more; nothing less.

I take my “motto” from the beloved John the Baptist; I simply desire to disappear, utterly and completely, into the Immaculata. The less known I am, so much the better, but to live to see HER increase- this is what I live for. Let us work together to hasten the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Today is the anniversary of the 5th apparition at Fatima. Let us be saints and red martyrs for Our Lady!
